'Just Friends - Live at the Village Vanguard' is a previously unreleased recording of pianist Roger Kellaway (Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz) and clarinetist Eddie Daniels (George Benson, Bob James) captured live at the iconic Greenwich Village jazz club.
It was recorded at the Vanguard on November 26, 1988 by engineer and Resonance Records founder George Klabin. The same year of this recording, Roger Kellaway won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement on Eddie Daniels's album Memos from Paradise (GRP Records).
Featuring the stellar rhythm section of bassist Buster Williams and drummer Al Foster, Just Friends is an intimate, lyrical journey through original compositions by Kellaway (Some of This, Some of That, Spice Man) and Daniels (Reverie for a Rainy Day, Wolfie's Samba), plus the jazz standard ballad Just Friends. You can still hear these longtime musical friends performing together in clubs in New York City and beyond today.
Personnel: Eddie Daniels (clarinet), Roger Kellaway (piano), Buster Williams (bass), Al Foster (drums)
