Susanne Abbuehl - April

Fascinating ECM debut by Swiss/Dutch singer Abbuehl and her young band includes original compositions, music of Carla Bley, settings of E.E. Cummings, a radical remake of 'Round Midnight, and a midnight raga. Abbuehl's mentors have included new jazz singer Jeanne Lee and Indian classical vocalist Prabha Atre, but April shows that she is more than the sum of her influences.
