As a follow-up to her critically acclaimed 'Pink' album about first love (a 2011 Silver Disc Award Winner in Japan), Canadian vocalist Diana Panton's album 'Red' is a profound expression about deeper love.
On this, her sixth recording as leader, Diana leads a group of musicians from both the classical and jazz worlds in the creation of music of rare beauty and emotional intensity. Pianist Don Thompson specially tailored the arrangements for string quartet and harp to compliment her ethereal voice. Phil Dwyer's saxophone provides a wonderful counterpoint to the singer's pure vocals and underscores the sensuality of much of the album. Guitarist Reg Schwager and bassist Jim Vivian sensitive playing completes the ensemble. There is also a delectable duet with fellow vocalist and bluesman Harrison Kennedy that has an undeniable chemistry.
