Jan Hirte's Blue Ribbon Band, Live at Berlin's Yorckschl�sschen Jazz Club is a brilliant live recording, reminiscent of the soul (R&B) era during the mid 60's and 70's, when music was still about the 'human touch and creativity'. Featuring the uninhibited vocals of Vivien Cutino (aka Nayeli), the rhythm section gives her the support she needs. Vivien's vocal freedom brings me back to the days of Janis Joplin...she let's it all 'hang out' with her convincing delivery of the lyrics.Jan Hirte's bluesy guitar chords and licks, combined with the very tasteful hammond organ, Fender Rhodes sounds and piano of Matthias Falkenau, a tight horn section with Patrick Braun on tenor sax and Wolfram Segond von Blanchet on baritone sax (horn arrangements by Wolfram Segond von Blanchet), Uli Wagner keeping it groovy on bass, and Sebastian Trupart, holding it all together on drums, creates an atmosphere which willl pull you in, as if you were there! ...back to the days of Donny Hathaway and Richard Tee.
