Torun Eriksen - Visits

Vocalist Torun Eriksen is one of the most instantly recognisable voices in Norwegian music. On 'Visits' Torun presents a selection of ten songs by the likes of James Taylor, Randy Newman, Coldplay, Paul Simon and Pink Floyd, each given her own unique interpretation.

The songs that Eriksen chose to record each have a personal resonance for her. Together with a trio, led by keyboardist David Wallumrod, she de-familiarises well-known songs while at the same she makes the unfamiliar sound as though you've always known them. The treatment of each song is a mixture of appropriate respect, innovation, and sublime restraint. Nothing is excessive, nothing is underplayed: this marvellous balance makes Torun Eriksen one of the most outstanding vocal performers today.
