Frank Marino & Mahogony Rush - From The Hip

Originally Released 1993With his eleventh studio album, Frank Marino started something of a 'little comeback'. Between 'Juggernaut' and his 1986 release 'Full Circle', a period of four years had already passed, and it would be another seven before From The Hip (eight years followed this album and it's successor Eye Of The Storm).Overall 'From The Hip' has a much more rock feel to it than its predecessor, and at the same time it offers more melodic vocals than earlier albums. The Wall Came Down recalls some of Robin Trower's best rock moments. I'm Ready impresses with its heavy blues rock riffs and a clever call and response guitar and vocal section. The 16 minute bonus track Hingston Nights (named after the street where the recording studio is located) surprises with its jazzy phrases and John McLaughlin feel.
