Archie Shepp - Archie Shepp & the New York Contemporary Five

Ten tracks recorded live at the world famous Montmartre Club in Copenhagen in 1963. This is one of the best and most important avat-garde jazz albums ever released, its importance enhanced by the fact that the quintet was formed specifically to come and play in Copenhagen and was disbanded when the musicians returned to New York. The album features three Ornette coleman compositions and two from Thelonius Monk. An wonderful example of improvisational jazz.
