Bela Fleck, Colorado Symphony & Jose Luis Gomez - Juno Concerto

B�la Fleck's three-movement concerto, named in honor of his son Juno, was recorded in April with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. While this piece follows the standard concerto form, it is a dazzling showcase for B�la's banjo that will be welcomed by his fans, and already heralded by Bluegrass Today as a breakthrough, genre-crossing work. The album is rounded out with two pieces that feature B�la with the edgy Brooklyn Rider string quartet, four classical musicians performing with the energy of young rock stars jamming on their guitars, a Beethoven-goes-indie foray into making classical music accessible but also celebrating why it was good in the first place. � Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
