Fly - Sky & Country

'Sky & Country', the first ECM album by the Fly trio the adventurous collective comprising three influential and increasingly well-known American jazz musicians - saxophonist Mark Turner, bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jeff Ballard and is the group's second recording. It follows the widely-applauded, eponymously-titled 'Fly'. The recording was made in New York's Avatar Studio in February and June 2008. It extends the trio's essential blueprint: group jazz stripped of ego, honouring the compositions. Sax and bass moving in complementary orbits, drums actively detailing rhythm and groove.
