Tex Beneke - Tex Beneke & His Orchestra

TEX BENEKE was a leading sideman with the Glenn Miller Orchestra from 1938 until it was disbanded in 1942 when Miller joined the US military. After the war, and with Glenn Miller deceased, Beneke took over the Glenn Miller band in 1946. Tex kept most of Miller's sidemen, but dropped the Army Air Force arrangements which Miller had used. Beneke began commissioning new compositions andarrangements, especially by Norman Leyden. .
