The debut album from the Jon Lloyd Group, led by One of the most striking writers at the sharp end of British jazz and improvisation (The Guardian) and also featuring leading pianist John Law and drummer Asaf Sirkis. On 'Vanishing Points' groove and melody come to the fore on arguably one of Lloyd's most accessible and arresting releases.

Jon Lloyd has played on the UK jazz and improvised music scene for over twenty years, playing with the likes of Paul Rogers, Mark Sanders, Marcio Mattos, Paul Clarvis, Stan Adler, Michel Pilz and Gerry Hemingway. Pianist John Law has been a key member of Jon's groups since 1991. He is a musician with a rare sensitivity and a fearless ability which cuts across all genres; his own musical path has connected freedom, classical music and jazz, reaching a high in recent years with his Congregation Trio with Asaf Sirkis and Yuri Goloubev.

Guitarist Rob Palmer plays with a powerful soloing style coupled with a high regard for texture and ambient sound. He plays with saxophonist Theo Travis, vibes player Roger Beaujolais and French composer Daniel Biro. Bassist Tom Farmer is part of the new generation of highly accomplished UK jazz musicians - a bandleader with the phenomenal Empirical and a bass player of enormous strength. Drummer Asaf Sirkis is part of Lighthouse, with Tim Garland and Gwilym Simcock, and the leader of his own powerful fusion trio. He is a consummate drummer, at home in any musical environment.

Personnel: Jon Lloyd (soprano saxophone, bass clarinet), John Law (piano, Fender Rhodes), Rob Palmer (electric guitar), Tom Farmer (double bass), Asaf Sirkis (drums)

A saxophone delivery as persuasive as a speaking voice. Lloyd should be seen and heard more often. - The Penguin Guide to Jazz on CD
