Folkestra North! - Folkestra North!

Launched by Folkworks in 2001, Folkestra North! is The Sage Gateshead's Youth Folk Ensemble. They make an exciting new sound, deeply rooted in the tradition yet always exploring fresh ideas and material. The band's members are aged between 14 and 19, and are drawn from many parts of Northern England. They meet fortnightly in Gateshead, working with Artistic Director Kathryn Tickell to create, arrange and perform a repertoire of traditional and original material. This CD is the product of their work during 2002/03.
