The four band members interpret their own compositions (including classics like Beirach's Leaving or Witzel's Northern Fields) as well as standards with great enthusiasm , with the courage to take risks and with rough edges. The music is both classic and contemporary. Richie Beirach says in the liner notes: There was a collective sense of energy and joyful creativity that emerged throughout the whole concert ... one of the really inspired concerts I have done. The quartet WITZEL / BEIRACH / SCHEUBER / OETZ is the result of many years of collaboration and friendship between the four band members; Saxophonist Reiner Witzel, Schalgzeuger Christian Scheuber and bassist Joscha Oetz, each of whom worked as a band leader and sidemen in countless productions and concerts (including Dave Liebman, Lew Soloff, Alex Sipiagin, Gil Evans Orchestra, Defunkt, Fela Kuti, The Supremes, Third World and many others ...) played together for many years as a trio under the name Three in the Red Circle and were invited to numerous festivals all over the world (including the USA, South America, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Spain and France).
