Kammerling Quartett - This Way

This way - debut album of the K�mmerling Quartet with playful mainstream jazz The four musicians of the K�mmerling Quartet have been playing together for a dozen of years. Now the simultaneously mature and fresh fruit of this jazz ensemble has been released: their debut album This Way. This Way is a joint effort by drummer Christoph Freier, bassist Fritz Roppel, Roland K�mmerling on trumpet and Bernd K�mmerling on piano. The ten tracks on the album are based on very different material: Roland's original compositions shine with clear melodic themes in a melancholic, cheerful guise, Bernd's arrangements surprise with powerful bridging between jazz and classical music, two Gershwin standards touch with their own signature and the good old straight folk song is given a whole new lease of life through jazz interpretation. In a sophisticated alternation of ensemble playing and solos of all musicians, the quartet transfers the music into the jazz idiom with its own note and audible joy of playing.
