Carlos Manuel Charlie Palmieri (1927-1988) was born in the South Bronx, New York, after his parents migrated from Puerto Rico, in 1926. During his extended career, Palmieri collaborated with his brother Eddie, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Herbie Mann, Ismael Rivera, Rafael Cortijo, Ismael Quintana, Bobby Capo, Mongo Santamaria, Cal Tjader, and Ray Barretto, among many others.
