Edward Vesala - Lumi

Recipient of a rare 5-Star review from the Penguin Guide to Jazz, Lumi is one of the key items in the discography of Finnish drummer-composer Edward Vesala.

It was the first of his ECM recordings to feature his Sound and Fury ensemble, with creative co-arranger Iro Haarla on piano and harp. Each piece is full of melodic ideas, brilliantly scored, wrote The Wire. A range of moods is explored, from the impressionist tone poem The Wind to the playful Finnish tango Fingo, and guitarist Raoul Bj�rkenheim solos powerfully.
