Australia's ever charming and charismatic Bob Evans release of his fourth studio album titled 'Familiar Stranger', The album follows the recent release of 'The Double Life' EP which spawned the first single 'Don't Wanna Grow Up Anymore' and saw Bob Evans hit the road for a string of unique acoustic shows around the country throughout November 2012, Produced by Dean Reid (Mystery Jets and Marina & The Diamonds), 'Familiar Stranger' signifies a new musical chapter as the beloved 'suburban' trilogy comes to a close, The album was recorded at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne throughout 2012 and was mixed by Scott Horscroft (Empire Of The Sun and The Sleepy Jackson) and Tony Buchen, who also played on bass for the album and has previously worked with Tim Finn and Phrase, Joey Waronker from the USA was invited to play drums on the album and made the trip especially to Melbourne for recording, Joey has previously worked with Beck, Air, Paul McCartney, The Smashing Pumpkins and R.E.M, The man himself, Bob Evans, has this to share about the album, Because the songs are mostly personal reflections of the last three years of my life it felt like I was creating a soundtrack as much as an album, Musically the songs go off in lots of different directions but conceptually the words are all tied in to the same theme, I had the tracklisting worked out before we started recording which I've never done before but it meant we could tie songs together and hopefully create something that encourages people to listen from start to finish, the old fashioned way! Bob Evans - the charming alter-ego and solo project of Australian recording artist Kevin Mitchell, also fronts alternative rock band Jebediah and is one quarter of Basement Birds.
