Hermann Wolfgang von Waltershausen's Oberst Chabert (Colonel Chabert) is a late-romantic melodious opera based on the French novel by Honore de Balzac. This forgotten work was revived in 2010 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for its first concert performance, featuring an internationally acclaimed cast that includes the Danish baritone Bo Skovhus and American tenor Raymond Very, conducted by the Canadian conductor Jaques Lacombe.
