CPO presents the third volume of Andriessen's varied and beautiful symphonic compositions. The opening 3rd Symphony embodies the energetic spirit that reflected the heady excitement of the post war years, the following Symphonie concertante harks back to 18th Century symphonic form, and Chantacler an overture inspired by the drama of the same name by the French stage poet Edmond Rostand (1868-1918), rounds off the CD program.
