Recorded with members of the NBC Symphony Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, along with a jazz rhythm section of Stan Freeman, Ray Brown and Buddy Rich with arrangement by Ray Carroll featuring Parker's bebop alto in front, this legendary session is as much about Parker's enthusiasm for classical orchestral music as it was for the foresight of producer and record label boss Norman Granz in facilitating it.
