Idil Biret was introduced at a very early age to the music of Bach by her mother. In 1946, aged five, she played the D Minor Piano Concerto with a string quartet at Ankara Radio, a work that would be a staple of her concert programmes from then on. These live recordings were taken down at the Bilkent University Hall in Ankara in December 1998 and March 2002.
