Swedish folk music can assume many different shapes. Once there was a common element that fell out of fashion: the drone (or dram), a solid, eternal fundamental note rumbling beneath the melody of bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy and nyckelharpa. Lately, the drone has returned. It is the foundation of this CD, filling the songs, the instruments and even the musicians with its primeval sound.
