Saxophonist Sonny Criss is accompanied by Barry Harris, Leroy Vinnegar and Lenny McBrowne in what was his first new recording since 1969. Sonny Criss could not have wished for three better helpmates to launch his return. Whatever Criss was doing on his perambulations during his first and only encounter with Harris (who solos and comps throughout with unfailing taste and creative spirit), he operates at customary levels of intention and execution. Sonny Criss was a master saxophonist. He played very, very beautifully. - Ornette Coleman
