A seminal r&b instrumental album, 'Green Onions' was the 1962 debut by Booker T. & the M.G.'s on Stax Records. It reached number 33 on the pop album chart in the month of release and the title single was a worldwide hit that has since been covered by dozens of artists, including Georgie Fame, Graham Bond, The Blues Brothers, The Ventures, Tom Petty, The Shadows, Mongo Santamar�a, Deep Purple, Byron Lee, Mike Bloomfield & Al Cooper, Count Basie, and Henry Mancini to name just a few. The album was also included in Robert Dimery's, 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You die.
