On the present recording we hear the entertaining 'Trio for Oboe, Bassoon, and Piano', the 'Quartet for English Horn and Strings', and the clearly structured, pleasurable, and highly virtuosic 'String Quartet in G' with the Parisii Quartet. The composer always challenged his interpreters with the highest technical demands. The CD program is complemented by the refreshingly carefree 'L'Horloge de Flore' (seven-part floral clock) for oboe and orchestra, one of the twentieth-century highlights in the oboe repertoire.
