Split LP from Antzaat and Ronarg. There has always been a hint of H.P. Lovecraft in Antzaat's music, but this time it's more elaborate. For instance, the track Shores of Madness is directly inspired by At the Mountains of Madness. Madness was a title Antzaat deemed fitting as the overarching term for the A-side. However, the tracks on this side don't form a coherent narrative in comparison to the Ronarg side. These tracks can stand alone, independent of each other. Decay, rebirth, and madness are prominently present. The band saw a split album as an ideal excuse to deviate musically from their main material. The music of Ronarg can be traced back to the time when he was studying in Antwerp. He felt the urge to create something around the theme of 'war'. He unearthed a treasure trove of family photos and documents in his mother's house, revealing fascinating stories from around the time of the First World War. Ronarg experienced a deep sense of connection and mourning for his deceased family members, an inconsolable feeling that he could only release through creative expression. Ronarg immersed himself fully in the First World War through films, documentaries, poems, and testimonies. He also explored the work of Max Ernst and delved into the family archive. Towards the end of the B-side, the songs become soaked in dark feelings and melancholy. This mirrors not only Ronarg's naivety in starting this project but also how many young men were sent to the battlefield with a naive, idealized, and heroic image of war. There, they were soon confronted with reality and horror. Tomorrow, a day that never comes.
