This final volume of 'The Matthay Pupils' presents most of his remaining students who left recordings, as well as the few discs Matthay himself made. Of particular interest is a selection from the almost unknown AFMC label which was affiliated to Matthay's school and featured many of its staff. Also included are recently discovered unpublished Irene Scharrer recordings which add considerably to her discography.A Matthay Miscellany: Rare and unissued recordings by Tobias Matthay and his pupilsTobias Matthay playing Matthay (recorded in 1923 by AFMC & in 1932 by Columbia) Irene Scharrer playing Schumann (Piano Sonata No 2, unissued HMV recording from 1924), Chopin (unissued HMV recording from 1925) & Schubert (unissued Columbia recording from 1930) Raie Da Costa playing Verdi/Liszt & J Strauss II/Grnfeld (recorded in 1930 by HMV) Ethel Bartlett playing Bach/Rummel (recorded in 1929 by NGS) Denise Lassimonne playing Bach (Two-Part Inventions, unissued) & Mozart (both recorded in 1941 by Decca) Ernest Lush playing a Grieg Norwegian peasant dance (recorded in 1955 by HMV) Adolph Hallis playing two Debussy tudes (recorded in 1938 by Decca) Harriet Cohen playing Turina (recorded in 1945 by British Forces Broadcasting Service) Eunice Norton playing Honegger (Concertino, recorded in 1935 by Victor) Nina Milkina playing four Scarlatti Sonatas (issued in 1958 by Westminster) Bruce Simonds playing Schubert (private issue recorded in the 1950s by Carillon) Ray Lev playing a Schumann Novellette (issued in 1952 by Concert Hall) Egerton Tidmarsh playing Bach & Moscheles (recorded in 1923 by AFMC) Desire MacEwan playing Brahms & Bach (recorded in 1923 by AFMC) Rae Robertson playing Purcell, Haydn & Jensen (recorded in 1925 by AFMC) Dorothy Howell playing Handel, Buck & Heller (recorded in 1925 by AFMC) Margaret Portch playing Heller & Brewer (recorded in 1923 by AFMC) Hilda Dederich playing Mozart, Borodin, Schumann & Swinstead (recorded in 1923 & 1925 by AFMC)
