Originally a member of Contraband, who recorded an album for Transatlantic, Mae then set out on a long and successful solo career.

She reinvented herself as a session singer in the late 1970s and 1980s, appearing on virtually every Stock Aitken & Waterman hit.

She continued her solo recording career again in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
