Two famous albums from France's biggest rock star, Johnny Hallyday. Hallyday was born in Paris as Jean-Philippe Smet, son of a Belgian father and a French mother. Influenced by 1950s rock 'n' roll, especially Elvis Presley, Hallyday became known for singing rock 'n' roll in French. His debut single, 1960's Laisse les Filles, often cited as the original French rock record, was followed shortly by his smash success, Souvenirs, Souvenirs. France's first real rock 'n' roll star was launched. Only two years later, JOHNNY L'OLYMPIA - En Concert '62 was a fact. This CD presents that legendary concert album along with 1961's JOHNNY HALLYDAY et ses FANS - Au Festival de Rock N' Roll, recorded at Paris's Palais Des Sports, and three live bonus tracks. Johnny Hallyday's star status remained in orbit until his recent death at age 74. The legend lives on through his music.
