On this recording for CARUS, the NDR Choir Hamburg under the direction of revered choral conductor Hans-Christoph Rademann presents a wide-ranging selection of Anton Bruckner's sacred works for choir and wind ensemble. Even though he is often perceived exclusively as an important symphonist, sacred music was always at the centre of this famously deeply religious composer's oeuvre.
The compositional period of the pieces stretches almost chronologically over 50 years, which means that Bruckner's compositional development can be traced very well.
