Following the release of the acclaimed EPs Collblanc and SET during early 2024, Joe Webb releases his much-anticipated full-length album Hamstrings & Hurricanes, featuring the formidable talents of Will Sach on bass and Sam Jesson on drums. This album more than confirms the trio's early promise and elevates them to a unique location in the modern jazz landscape.�For the final track �Hiraeth� (�homesick� in Welsh) I wanted a more chilled version of Oasis� �Shakermaker�. That era was the starting point of my love of music. I loved the way it made me feel. I started to get that same feeling when listening to Duke Ellington, Franz Liszt, Billie Holiday, Oscar Peterson, Blur, Art Tatum and the list goes on� Also, I should add that the handwriting on the album cover was inspired by the Oasis album cover �Definitely Maybe.�Joe Webb is an extraordinarily gifted pianist and improviser who, taking inspiration from the flavour of 90's Brit-pop and adding references to his Welsh cultural roots, seamlessly blends traditional jazz with contemporary flair. His innovative approach breathes new life into classic jazz idioms, creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly original. The Joe Webb Trio's ability to amalgamate the old and the new has garnered them a deserved reputation for pushing the boundaries of jazz while respecting its rich heritage.
