While establishing herself as a solo artist away from The Mamas and the Papas in the late 60s, Mama Cass Elliot also proved to be the consummate television host, inviting the cream of the era's singers and songwriters to share the stage with her for this broadcast special. Displaying her usual elegance, Cass opens proceedings with her breakout hit single, Dream a Little Dream of Me', and also sits in with her guests for takes on Bob Dylan's 'I Shall Be Released' (with Joni Mitchell and Mary Travers) and The Lovin' Spoonful's 'Darlin' Companion' (with the group's frontman and chief songwriter, John Sebastian). Ever gracious, she also gives Mitchell, Travers and Sebastian their own slots, during which the Laurel Canyon icon Mitchell airs her classic coming-of-age ballad 'Both Sides Now' and Sebastian performs his debut solo single, 'She's a Lady'.
