Songs about soldiers ranging from jingoistic patriotic calls to arms, to anti war songs depicting the horrors of war. They include tales of heroism, songs about conditions the soldiers faced and about the loved ones left behind. Some tunes presented as romanticised images and some not so. Most of the songs are traditional and go back over the centuries.
