VARIOUS - BRITTEN SONG CYCLES

With the exception of Winter Words, this recording focusses on the lesser\\-known song cycles of Benjamin Britten. Our Hunting Fathers and On This Island set texts by Auden, Charm of Lullabies a selection of different texts on the theme of night and sleep and Winter Words finds inspiration in the writings of Thomas Hardy. Stellar performances from Peter Pears and Helen Watts with Benjamin Britten accompanying on the piano and conducting the LSO.
