WESEN is an electronic art-pop duo made up of long-time friends and co-conspirators J�l�a Hermannsd�ttir and Loji H�skuldsson.Hailing from Reykjav�k, Iceland, the two started working on music together in their teens, but established themselves separately within the Icelandic music scene, Loji with alt-rock darlings Sudden Weather Change and J�l�a with dreamy noise-rockers Oyama.�WESEN was created in 2014 to meet both parties' need to step outside the traditional band structure, experiment with electronics and conjure up something new and fun. The outcome is glitchy electro infused with catchy pop overtones, that is simultaneously straight-forward & nuanced.�Wall of Pain is WESEN's debut album and a sincere product of passion. Each sound and melody was carefully crafted in various home studios and quiet spaces during all kinds of unholy hours, and traditional instruments are mixed in with unorthodox beats using pure intuition. It's simultaneously a learning experience and a complete and unique collection of compositions, and the lyrics deal with themes like nostalgia, isolation, friendship, love, loss, longing, shame, patience, depression and sex -- to name a few. WESEN gained great exposure and glowing reviews for their live shows during Iceland Airwaves 2015 finding themselves being featured as a top pick by MTV Iggy, the Line of Best Fit and the Reykjavik Grapevine.
