Pepper And The Jellies - The Viper Session

Pepper and The Jellies are a 4 piece band born in 2013, headed by the jazz vocalist Ilenia Appicciafuoco. They aim to recreate the atmosphere of the 10�s, 20's 30's and 40's jazz era and to evoke voices and tunes of the great jazz and blues divas like Bessie Smith, Ruth Etting, Ma Raney, Victoria Spivey, Sophie Tucker, Annette Hanshaw and Peggy Lee, among others and the musical instruments employed, like washboard and kazoo, that Ilenia plays during the gigs, augments this. The band also features Marco Galiffa (guitar) Emiliano Macrini (double bass) and Andrea Galiffa (snare and woodblocks). Their performances have always been appreciated by all kinds of public, specialy in Italy - where they won the Julia Jazz... e non solo contest in 2014 � but also abroad, they performed in UK, in Bristol at the famous Old Duke, for example. They also took part in the Birmingham International Jazz and Blues Festival and many jazz and swing events in Belgium and Switzerland too. The band performed in Paris in September 2015, and will be in Ireland in January 2016. Pepper And The Jellies is a traditional jazz and blues quartet which aims to recreate the atmosphere of 20s, 30s and 40s Afro-American music. In The Viper Session, the band comprises an unusual lineup, headed by the vocalist Ilenia Appicciafuoco, gets inspiration from artists like Bessie Smith, Clarence Williams, Eva Taylor, Fats Waller, Eddie Lang and many others, and performs their masterpieces preserving the band�s own and recognisable sound.
