Dutch Swing College Band - Dutch Swing College Band 1960

Formed in 1945 as The Orchestra of the Dutch Swing College, The Dutch Swing College Band is still going strong, making it Europe's longest established band. The DSCB was one of very few European bands to make any impact in the UK during the 'Trad Boom'. We tentatively reissued some of their tracks on a CD in 2003 and it proved extremely popular. As a consequence this is the sixth CD collection we have released. The years 1955 to 1960 can reasonably be judged their peak period. A large proportion of their recordings in that period were 'live' concerts and disc 1 in the collection is largely one such. 1960 saw Trad bands pitching for the charts and this collection shows the DSCB moving in that direction. They had some success with the well-known Edith Piaf hit 'Milord' when it was issued as a single.
