The Musica Colorata Ensemble present the world premiere recording of Francesco Maria Benedetti's La Morte.
Trained under the guidance of Scorpione, Giordani, and Urio, Francesco Benedetti (1683-1749) was Chapel Master in Assisi, friend of G. Tartini and confrere of Father Martini. He composed around 270 works over the course of his life, principally sacred, vocal pieces.
The complex counterpoint of his music closely recalls Bachian characteristics which, however, give way to galant elements that in some points result in apre-classical language. Dense and virtuosic ornamentations typical of the performance pratice of the time support the theories on the ornamentation practice of the time.
