When these recordings were made in 2005, they were the culmination of five years' study by Tony Kofi and the musicians associated with his Monk Liberation Front project - The (now deleted) original compact disc's release heralded Tony's arrival as a bandleader and fully formed soloist when it was immediately awarded the winner of the prestigious BBC Jazz Awards ALBUM OF THE YEAR.

With a real A-Team rhythm section behind him of Jonathan Gee, Piano; Winston Clifford, drums; and Ben Hazleton, bass; Tony Kofi and these incredible musicians take the themes of Thelonious Monk and gives them a contemporary feel while never losing sight of the composer's uniqueness. At the time of writing, Tony's quartet is still performing this exceptional music to such a high standard it is truly jaw-dropping...which is why it is now available again on CD/digital and (for the first time) on vinyl as a 2LP set.
