Probably the most most important Chilean group to be born in exile, Amankay was founded by five music students in Holland 30 years ago whose main purpose was to contribute their own musical sound and repertoire to the manifestations of solidarity that were organised in those days in the struggle against the militay dictatorship of Pinochet. Originally released in 1979 and available now for the first time on CD with original liner notes and additional background articles by Jan Fairley (ethnomusicoligist and journalist) and Dr. Alfonso Padilla (musicologist). This album is a testimony to political solidaririty and social purpose and collectivity, although firmly footed in the campaigns and manifestations of earlier days, the music has its own values, which can still be enjoyed today.Tracks: Despedida de Salta / La Represion / El Gavilan de Violeta / El Mercado / Postdata del Gavilan / Isla Saca / Asi te Quiero / Paisaje de Chijini / Documentos / Chile, Escucha.
