English Symph/String Orch - David Matthews: Symphony No.9, Opus 140, Variations for Strings, Double Concerto for Violin and Viola

With a body of work spanning almost 60 years David Matthews has established an international reputation as one of the leading symphonists of our time. Whether he intended it or not his Ninth Symphony (NI6382) is a work of bold provocation, it speaks to the creative artist as a force of renewal, as one who takes the enduring threads of melody, nature and tradition and revitalises and re-invents them for our time and generations to come. The ESO conducted by Kenneth Woods premi�red the ninth symphony on 9th May 2018 at St George�s Bristol, a short video of the performance is available.
