I first heard Hurrah! at the end of the summer of 1982 when The Sun Shines here was released on the Kitchenware label, and there was an instant identification with what they were doing. The song itself seemed like a perfect protest against a new orthodoxy. This punchy debut was incredibly appealing for people like me who were railing against the prevailing gloss and irony and were finding inspiration instead in old music by The Action, Wire, Byrds and Subway Sect. This song became my generation's Do You Believe In Magic?
