Brass instruments and organ have always played together throughout the history of music, and there are a multitude of settings for this constellation. Most often, it involves two trumpets and organ, a brass quartet or quintet with organ. Within the French symphonic tradition, however, several pieces were written for three trumpets, three trombones, percussion, and organ. Organist Anders Johnsson and trumpeter Jonas Wiik have collaborated for many years. A couple of years ago, they got the idea to record these works and, at the same time, expand the repertoire further with newly written music. A project submission with the Royal Danish Brass was formulated, and funding was granted by the Sten K Johnson Foundation. From composers Naji Hakim and Joakim Andersson, the ensemble had two major works composed directly for them, which were premiered in Malmo St. Andreas Church in May 2022.
