The Oliver Schnyder Trio plays two masterpieces of Czech chamber music: the Piano Trio opus 15, by Bedrich Smetana and the famous Dumky Trio opus 90 by Antonin Dvorak. The trio has chosen Bohemian Rhapsodies as the title of thepresent album - a reference to the historical geographical origin of the two recorded works, but also a deliberate homage to the legendary album by the British pop group Queen.
Musicologist Eva Gesine Bauer explains more about this in her booklet text.
I am increasingly impressed by Prospero's approach to its releases. Here is another polished product, with great artwork, colourful sleeve notes and top-notch recording quality. The trio seemingly feel every note in Smetana's grief-fulled G minor work, while the Dvorak really pops. - BBC Music Magazine (5 STARS)
