But you know what? This was absolutely not a holiday cash-in; Cee Lo's Magic Moment is just that, a positively old school Christmas album full of heart, soul, and devotion. The song listing is simply killer, ranging from old chestnuts like Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer and White Christmas to Donny Hathaway's This Christmas to Joni Mitchell's River. And despite that wide stylistic breadth, Cee Lo pulls it all off with gusto and panache, with a little help from his friends both human and, er, fabric? (Perhaps the most charming track is All I Need Is Love, at the end of which The Muppets cut Cee Lo down to their diminutive size).
