The third album from Glasgow's Rulers of the Root, again highlights the writing prowess of vocalist Patrick Gillies - Album opener Morning of my Time is a paean to a more innocent, less complex time, whilst the album's end track Ramblin' Man could be some 50 years later when even a decent night's sleep is something to dream about.
The core of the album tells of a journey through memories of shy and awkward teens, first loves, sleepless nights in bad hotels and general grumpiness as we age. Sprinkled with wry observations and a dark sense of humour, it's a beguiling and varied musical mix brought powerfully to life by five talented musicians.
