The Sleeping Beauty is considered Tchaikovsky's greatest ballet, with its illustrative score that includes favourite moments such as the Rose Adagio and the great Sleeping Beauty Waltz. Conductor Barry Wordsworth is one of the UK's foremost ballet conductors, and currently holds the position of Music Director of the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden. Featuring solo violin, RPO Leader Clio Gould, and solo cello Jessica Burroughs. This disc completes the set of three Tchaikovsky ballets recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (after The Nutcracker RPO SP 006 and Swan Lake RPO SP 026).
