Although the quintet featured here was one of trumpeter Woody Shaw's finest, it failed to make much of an impact before breaking up. Teamed with trombonist Steve Turre, pianist Mulgrew Miller, bassist Stafford James and drummer Tony Reedus for an Italian concert, Shaw stretches out on two of his originals plus 'You And The Night And The Music' and 'We'll Be Together Again'; all four of the numbers clock in between 10-12 minutes apiece.
