Jerry Bergonzi - Lineage

A musician for musicians, for too long considered a follower of Coltrane, Bergonzi is instead a continuer of the jazz saxophonist tradition. If in the 1950s musicians synthesized the lessons of Hawkins and Young, today it is logical and natural to reunite Rollins, Coltrane and Joe Henderson together, creating a new linguistic frontier.

This guy is the real tower of power. And to my ears his holds is own with his elders- Joe Henderson , Sonny Rollins, Johnny Griffin. His bold penetrating tone and furiously paced streams of notes make for a commanding voice indeed.
