Dave Liebman Quartet - Setting The Standard

As the album's title indicates, this is a session made up of composition from the great American song book and jazz standards, including Old Devil Moon (Burton Lane), I Didn't Know What Time It Was (Richard Rodgers), Grand Central Station (John Coltrane), Nica's Dream (Horace Silver), and Milestone (Miles Davis), among others. Playingsoprano saxophone throughout,Liebman is supported by an all-star trio featuring pianist Mulgrew Miller, bassist Rufes Reid, and Victor Lewis on drums.

David Liebman is considered a renaissance man in contemporary music with a career stretching over fifty years. He has played and recorded with such star names as Miles Davis, Elvin Jones, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, and McCoy Tyner. As a leader he has recorded over 250 albums in styles ranging from classical to rock to free jazz.
